There is so much information out there on how to improve your swim stroke, much of which can be confusing or conflicting. It can also be incredibly hard to know what to change if you have no idea of how you swim at the moment? At our video swim assessments we will provide you with a clear image of your current swimming habits as well as all the tools you need to improve.
How do the sessions work?
Structured as a squad swim session, each athlete will benefit from a quality coached swim session, a detailed analysis of their swim technique and a plan for addressing any issues identified.
One-by-one each swimmer is rotated out of their training lane into the filming lane. Here we will take footage of their swim technique from a variety of different angles, including underwater. We will take this footage away with us, analyse it and produce a detailed report for the swimmer to review.
What do you receive in terms of advice and help in improving your stroke?
The report mentioned above will detail any technique issues identified, what effect they are having on your efficiency and a progressive set of drills to incorporate into your training specifically to try and address the issues identified.
Each swimmer also receives a copy of their footage, which is marked up with our commentary so you can see first hand the issues we have identified and in certain circumstances, we will also indicate in the video how you can improve e.g. where your hand entry should be in relation to where it is currently.
Once armed with your report and copy of your footage, you will have the tools to know how to work on improving your own technique. The rest is up to you!
When are the sessions?
Historically, we have run Video Swim Assessments on a monthly basis. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic it is currently necessary for us to run them on more of an ad hoc basis.

Where are the sessions held?
Oasis Leisure Centre near Holborn – 32 Endell St, London WC2H 9AG
How fit do you need to be?
Participants must be able to swim at least 200m without stopping.
Do I need to bring anything?
You’ll need your swimming kit and a bottle of water for poolside.
In the second part of the session there will be a fair bit of coaching and drills for you to practice. If you have a pull buoy and a set of training fins, bring them along. If you don’t have either, don’t worry, you can perform the drills without, they will just enable you to concentrate on the focus of the drill more easily if you are not worrying about propulsion or buoyancy.
Are there any booking conditions?
Please complete an Athlete Questionnaire before you book (link below). Without a completed questionnaire, we’re afraid you will not be allowed to participate.
Owing to the fact we have to pre-pay for the pool in advance, we’re afraid that once booked, we cannot offer any refunds should you no longer be able to attend. We might be able to transfer you to another session in certain circumstances though.
We do also have a 3 person minimum for running sessions, so in the rare instance where we cannot run a session due to low numbers, each swimmer that has booked will be given the option of transferring to another session or a full refund.
